Well, its New Years Eve, and I couldn't be more excited about 2008. So many new things are happening!
I suppose I should start with Vox. I found Vox through a link when I googled "blogging". I was looking for a site that lets me write what I want without shouting it to the world, something more of an online journal. I dont care about feedback, or who views what. I just want to write for my own pleasure, or to inform my family of recent events when I leave for college. I was looking for something that let me send pictures easily and also write about them, so my family can see whats up. I have a facebook, but I dont feel like it lets me express myself as much as Id like. Its more to keep in touch with friends when we go our separate ways, but I cant expect my family to suddenly become cool enough for a facebook. So I guess thats why I joined.
I have never read anything quite like Toni Morrison's Beloved. The book is filled with plenty of thought provoking moments, and I lingered over every page. After I finished the book, I listened to it as an audiobook, read by the author. As she read the pages, it was like I had never even read the novel, Morrison's voice filled with meaning I had not seen on my own. It was a deeply unsettling story, filled with the horrible flashbacks and nightmares of the slaves of Sweet Home, yet there were strands of hope found in Denver as she grows into a brave woman. I greatly enjoyed reading Beloved by Toni Morrison.
